LIKE A SOFT COTTONY SHIRT
Do not be fooled by its name, Diptyque’s Fleur de Peau doesn’t smell like florals, which is what makes this soft, warm, musky ‘floral’ masterpiece a major hit. This unisex fragrance is the best, most addictive Diptyque perfume in my book, a 10/10.
It opens with a distinct burst of pink pepper and aldehydes, before a sparkling iris note brightens the mood. Then the fragrance settles with its soft cottony warmth and a clean yet sensual smell emerges from its musk, ambrette, leather, and amberwood base notes.
It’s impossible to talk about Diptyque’s Fleur de Peau without mentioning You by Glossier, to which many fragrance aficionados compare it. After all both have similar notes (iris, amber, pink pepper…). While their entrance is nearly the same, the longevity and drydown are miles apart. If I may, Fleur de Peau is You times 10—with an incredible lasting power, a distinct sillage, and the most pleasant baby-like drydown you’ll want to smell over and over again.
The fragrance doesn’t dissipate into what’s called ‘olfactory adaptation;’ it will linger here and there and you will smell wonderful remnants of it throughout the day. It’s also the perfect scent to wear to bed, linking your skin and your pristine white sheets, and you wake up to a gorgeous, clean whiff from your neck.
If you end up loving the eau de parfum, you’ll definitely want the hand cream. I did.
